Wiregrass Great American Block Party

Date & Location: Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend at The Shops at Wiregrass

Overview: A community celebration that draws in the Greater Tampa Bay community to The Shops at Wiregrass for a family friendly day of free events.

In Depth: The Shops at Wiregrass recently remodeled their Center Court area, 2026 is the first year that they are regularly activating the space after the remodel. To kick off summer and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. the property wanted to coordinate a patriotic themed celebration. The TWC team carefully curated a diverse, family friendly event that took over the Center Court and central road area of the property. The goal was to activate families and give media a themed event to report on, spreading the word about the property beyond it’s usual audience.

The Great American Block Party welcomed bounce houses, seven local food and beverage vendors, a tenant bar pop-up, Vintage Military Vehicles, two dance groups, children’s programming with bubbles, face painting and balloon art as well as local sports teams for street team activations.

This blend of local and patriotic themed activations drew significant attention from the media in the weeks before the event. The affiliated PR team for the property used the event to capture tens of thousands of dollars in earned media - reaching over 100,000 people through television media hits, online web based media features and social media posts.

The event drew over 800 people to the property during the event. Food and beverage tenants reported significant sales increases during the event and directly afterward. The property gained hundreds of social media followers from the event and increased their email list by 600 followers as a result of event clicks.

TWC also provided event decor for the event, designing thematic floral arrangements for a large orb shaped photo op arch and procuring planter boxes filled with themed florals. This decor will be used for future events and will be kept up through the season.
